As with anything, an order must start with interest. If you are interested in purchasing a couture gown, please contact us and we will get the ball rolling. Before actually placing an order, we would like to invite you to come over and discuss with us what you would like your dress to be. We can go over any major details at this point, such as the cut of the gown, fabric choice, any embellishments wanted, etc. We can give you a ballpark range of what it would cost based on an estimation of fabric prices and amounts as well as the amount of time that it would take us to complete the gown. This initial consultation is a no pressure situation; do not feel obligated to make an immediate decision. However, if you feel it is doable, we will proceed to the first phase of gown goodness. Time to make a mockup! What is a mockup? It's a muslin (or other inexpensive fabric) creation of your garment. We do ask for a $75 mockup creation fee ($50 for corsets), but if you choose to have us create your gown, that is credited towards the final cost. This mockup allows us to adjust the fit of the garment (and create our pattern) without using really expensive fabric. It is also much easier to alter a mockup if you end up not liking a design on you (yes, it happens) than to alter the actual garment. Again, this is a non-binding situation, as you can choose not to have the actual dress made by us if you have found something that suits you better. If you choose to have the dress created, you can then place your order. At this time, we would have a very good idea of the amount of time it would take us to create the gown, as well as the prices and amounts of fabrics that we would be using. It is a lengthy process, but it ensures that you know what you are getting before you order as well as letting us know what we need to do to make your gown absolutely perfect for your special day. |
