The perfect fit....
Proper lacing....
Many people have heard stories about getting "the vapors" or have seen women passing out as their stays are laced too tight (a wonderful dramatic climax in the movies). Proper lacing is required if you are going to have a comfortable corset experience, and should feel like you are getting "hugged" while wearing it.

With a well-fitted corset, a gradual lace will keep you most comfortable, especially if the corset is new.

When lacing up, please keep these three things in mind:
  1. Lace slowly, especially if you haven't worn this particular corset before. This will give the boning time to mold to your body., and it will also give your body time to adjust to the corset. A good rule of thumb is to close the corset about halfway, lounge for a bit to let the corset and body adjust to each other, then finish lacing to the wearer's desire.
  2. Keep the corset seated on your waist when lacing. If the waist of the corset is not on your natural waist, the fit will not be comfortable, and you will be grumpy.
  3. If you're putting on an overbust, make sure you adjust "the girls" before you completely lace up. The women in the Victorian era had a really good idea when holding onto those door frames and bedposts.
If you keep these three things in mind, your corset should be comfortable enough to wear everyday, and should give you years of enjoyment.
